Manager, Flight Training and Logistics

POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager, Flight Training is responsible for leading and overseeing all administrative functions that support the planning, scheduling, execution, tracking, and documentation of pilot training programs. This position ensures training operations are conducted efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) standards, where applicable. The manager provides leadership to the training logistics team, drives process improvements, and partners with other Training teams, Flight Operations, Crew Scheduling, and other stakeholders to ensure pilots are enrolled, trained, evaluated, and qualified in accordance with operational requirements. Through effective planning, resource management, and continuous oversight, this position enables the successful delivery of safe, compliant, and high-quality pilot training.

Oversee daily operation, manage team workflow, and help remove roadblocks that impede team efficiency.

• Responsible for making sure team is inputting and updating legal and complaint schedules into the crew scheduling software.
• Oversee audits of Crew Trac crew member and pairing exceptions to ensure compliance with all FAR and contract regulations to ensure training pairings are correctly built and assigned when there is training associated with the pairing.
• Ensures training cycle times are completed per current company goals.
• Oversee creating a master schedule based on input from available schedules, applicable union agreements, Company policies, and FAA regulations for flight scheduling and rescheduling of required Operating Experience (OE) and Line Checks.
• Ensures excellent and timely customer service to crew members. Ensures team responds to scheduling questions as it relates to training schedules.
• Oversee audits of Crew Trac Crew member and pairing exceptions to ensure compliance with all FAR and contract regulations to ensure training pairings are correctly built and assigned when there is training associated with the pairing.
• Ensures compliance within the training logistics group with applicable FAA regulations, Collective Bargaining Agreements and Company Policy.
• Drives improvements in the daily operation through cross-functional problem solving and collaboration with other departments, Crew Planning, Crew Scheduling, Training Coordination, and Training Qualification teams.
• As needed, assists in reviewing Pilot Training Records and helps with recommendations.
• Complies with the company’s AQP policies and procedures. Maintains knowledge of current revision of each AQP Volume.
• Fosters the Company’s Vision, Mission, Culture Statement and Guiding Principles throughout the work environment.
• Screens, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring potential employees. Coaches and provides leadership, direction, motivation and supervision of direct reports. Appraises performance, provides performance feedback, takes corrective actions and oversees training and development of staff.
• Able to handle confidential information and use good judgment in handling sensitive situations.
• Coordinates with Inflight Training and regulator on the suitability and functionality of equipment used in training
• Manages Training Department projects and initiatives as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A / B.S) or equivalent in Aviation or related field, or equivalent work experience
• At least 4 years of aviation industry experience
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, as well as leadership and team building skills.

• Experience with a Crew Scheduling software

• Ability to perform high-level decision making and goal setting within strict time constraints.
• Professional experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office.

• Previous supervisor experience

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Multi-engine and Instrument Rating.
• Experience in an Advanced Qualification Program (AQP)
• Experience with Training Management Scheduling Software
