POSITION PURPOSE
At Republic Airways, Crew Scheduling Operations Leads play a pivotal role in guiding the real-time performance of our scheduling team. Positioned at the heart of our System Operations Control (SOC), Operations Leads oversee the daily workflow of dedicated task-centered workgroups, ensuring that Crew Scheduling Operations Specialists are supported, empowered, and aligned with operational goals. Leads work within a dedicated pod of Crew Scheduling Operations Specialists, serving as the primary resource for escalated phone calls, providing real-time guidance, and ensuring task alignment across the team. They make swift, informed decisions to preserve schedule integrity, support crewmembers, and maintain operational efficiency, while keeping the Crew Scheduling Operations Supervisor informed of emerging issues.

- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Crew Scheduling, providing advanced knowledge of scheduling systems, FAA regulations, and labor agreements to support decision-making, resolve complex operational challenges, and mentor team members on best practices.
- Fierce focus on exceeding Republic’s Flight Plan Operational KPI initiatives
- Proactively monitor assigned pod for emerging operational issues, providing real-time guidance to Crew Scheduling Operations Specialists.
- Collaborate with Crew Scheduling Operations Supervisor to implement timely strategies that minimize operational impact and maintain efficiency.
- Maintain active communication with fellow Crew Scheduling Operations Leads and the Crew Scheduling Operations Supervisor to identify larger-scale operational challenges, coordinate cross-pod solutions, and support system-wide recovery efforts.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated operational concerns from crewmembers, resolving issues with professionalism and urgency.
- Oversee the performance and workflow of your assigned scheduling pod, prioritizing and delegating tasks to Crew Scheduling Operations Specialists to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide real-time coaching and mentorship to Crew Scheduling Operations Specialists, fostering development and operational excellence.
- Make decisions daily on the use of resources, performance, and budgets. Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound decisions
- Participate in daily Crew Scheduling Operations briefings, presenting the status of each pod and anticipated operational issues; communicating the shift outlook to your team and implementing specialized plans as needed.
- Ensure Pilots and Flight Attendants are scheduled in full compliance with FAA regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and company policies.
- Assign legal and qualified crew members to open trip pairings to support on-time performance, crew legality, and operational reliability
- Monitor crew connections and proactively replace crews to avoid delays and preserve schedule integrity
- Utilize critical decision-making ability to resolve conflicts and recover open flying caused by irregular operations, crew unavailability, or legality constraints
- Make high-impact, time-sensitive decisions to preserve schedule integrity and minimize operational delays
- Monitor crew connections and proactively replace crews to avoid delays and preserve schedule integrity
- Collaborate with Dispatch, Maintenance, and other operational departments to resolve real-time challenges
- Communicate schedule adjustments to crewmembers with clarity, professionalism, and urgency
- Provide 24/7 support to crewmembers, including schedule modifications, travel logistics, and contract-related inquiries
- Review and align daily reserve coverage to ensure maximum utilization and cost-effectiveness
- Contribute to the onboarding and development of new Crew Scheduling Operations Specialists through hands-on training and mentorship
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of federal aviation regulations and applicable labor agreements
- Operate multiple specialized software systems to track and solve complex scheduling problems, while handling a high volume of phone calls and chat communications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
- A college degree is preferred, however a combination of high school diploma/GED and relevant professional experience and can provide an equally valuable foundation for success in this role.
- 1 year Crew Scheduling experience, or demonstrated high performance in a similar role
- Comprehensive knowledge of FAR 117 and FAR 121
- Thrive in a high-stress, high-volume working environment
- Able to make timely and informed operational decisions
- Critical thinking with a passion for problem-solving and attention-to-detail
- Previous experience delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume operational setting
- Multitask while maintaining a sense of urgency and follow-through
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable working with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

- Stable work history with reliable attendance
- Able to sit or stand at a workstation for 10-hour shifts
PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in aviation or a related discipline
- 2+ years of Crew Scheduling experience
- Knowledge of Republic Pilot and Flight Attendant Union contracts
- Experience with SOC software, including CAE Crewtrac and Movement Control
- Desire to expand operational knowledge and grow professionally within Republic Airways
