IT Network Architect

POSITION PURPOSE:

The IT Network Architect is responsible for leading cutting-edge network strategy and vision in support of business initiatives. Develops technology roadmaps and direction for all network architecture. Drives innovation and automation strategy for emerging network technology solutions. Designs, implements, monitors/reports, and maintains overall enterprise network infrastructure including on-premises, LAN’s, WAN’s, SDWAN, Cloud (AWS/Azure), metropolitan and wireless networks for Republic Airways. Leads problem analysis, escalation, and resolution on network infrastructure.

• Establishes strategic network architecture vison and documents roadmap on all network architecture.
• Champions new emerging technologies including LANs, WANs, Wireless and Cloud networking infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
• Architects, designs, implements, monitors/reports, and maintains LANs, WANs, Wireless and Cloud networking infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
• Manages network hardware and software vendors, as well as network carriers; procurement, maintenance/support renewals, and contracts and administration.
• Manages various network projects collaborating with other IT and business units to determine requirements and meet project milestones.
• Creates and updates/maintains detailed network and system documentation of all corporate networks.
• Works on an on-call availability in the event of mission-critical network issues that impairs or threatens to impair the ability of the company to conduct normal business.
• Collaborates with internal customers, including business partners, internal IT, and vendors/contractors to ascertain problem/issue determination and resolution.
• Develops and supports business initiatives when needed.
• Responds to internal service requests, change requests, incidents. Adheres to change management standard operating procedures.
• Ensures adherence to a departmental budget.
• Provides technical leadership and mentoring to team and department members. Leads through example, monitors, influences, and trains others. Provides input to Leadership on performance reviews and helps to identify development needs.
• Participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation, as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in designing and implementing network technologies
• Subject matter expertise including but not limited to latest routing, switching, and wireless technology.
• Knowledge of Cisco routing and switching hw/sw (LAN, WAN, Data Center), Aruba hw/sw (wireless network infrastructure, Clearpass Policy Manager), Riverbed hw/sw (Steelheads, SteelCentral Suite, AppResponse etc.) SolarWinds, TCP/IP, MPLS, QOS, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, ACL, STP, VLAN, VTP, HSRP, VPN
• Cloud networking and security, Aviatrix, AWS, Azure, Palo Alto, VMC, Megaport, ingress/egress VPC/VNET, routing, load balancing, VRNI, VRLI on-prem and cloud.
• On premise data center routing/switching hw/sw, Cisco Nexus, NSX-T, DFW, VxRail, HCX, DMZ
• Certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent experience.
  

PREFERRED CERTIFICAIONS

• Certification in Cisco Certified Network Professional Enterprise (CCNP Enterprise)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
