Senior Manager, Project Delivery

The role

Position Purpose:

The Senior Manager, Project Delivery, will lead and develop a high-performing team of Project Managers, Scrum Masters and Business Analysts. This role is crucial in driving continuous improvement across our project delivery practices, ensuring consistency and excellence in delivery across a diverse portfolio utilizing Agile, hybrid and traditional methodologies. The ideal candidate is a servant-leader with a strong background across Agile, hybrid, and traditional project management methodologies, and a passion for evolving organizational agility. This role will help establish, mature, and evolve delivery frameworks across the organization, championing best practices and driving transformation initiatives.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Project Managers, Scrum Masters and Business Analysts to foster high-performing, self-organizing teams.
  • Develop and evolve project delivery practices across teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
  • Partner with Business leaders, Engineering, and other cross-functional leaders to ensure efficient and consistent delivery of business value.
  • Champion the adoption of project delivery frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, hybrid, waterfall), tailoring approaches as needed to fit team and organizational needs.
  • Drives the development and implementation of project delivery best practices, standards, and tools across multiple methodologies.
  • Lead quarterly planning sessions ensuring that risks, dependencies and resources are identified, tracked and managed.
  • Provide coaching across Agile, hybrid, and waterfall practices.
  • Leads the adoption of activities such as business visioning, roadmap development, stakeholder engagement, requirements management, journey mapping, release and implementation planning, backlog management, project planning and delivery governance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance delivery efficiency, transparency, and team satisfaction.
  • Support and influence change management initiatives to drive delivery maturity across the organization.
  • Establish key metrics and reporting for team performance, delivery health, and process effectiveness ensuring metrics align to methodology
  • Serve as an escalation point for delivery risks or impediments, working collaboratively to resolve issues quickly.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, feedback, and adaptation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in project delivery roles (e.g., Program Manager, Project Manager, Scrum Master, Agile Coach, BA), with at least 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
  • Deep understanding of project delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, hybrid traditional project management, SAFe, etc.) and proven experience in scaling across multiple teams.
  • Strong people leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional and distributed teams.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on value delivery.
  • Experience with project delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, etc.).

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree in related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Professional, SAFe Program Consultant PMI-ACP, ICAgile, PMP) are a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or aviation governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers, and the general team members. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to present to all levels of executive management and direct teams to complete service management tasks.

REASONING/PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Excellent time management skills.

DECISION MAKING

Makes decisions daily on use of resources, performance, and budgets. Decisions could require additional expenditure of resources if not sound decisions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to talk or hear up to 35% of the time.
  • Able to sit over 70% of the time.
  • Able to focus with clear vision at 20 inches or less (computer screen).

Typically, not exposed to extreme environmental conditions.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Able to travel up to 10% of the time, including overnight travel.
