How your data is used

Overview
We use your data to:
- Help you understand how a role lines up with your experience.
- Help you apply clearly and avoid simple mistakes.
- Improve the product using aggregated metrics (not personal profiles).
Our commitments:
- We don't sell candidate data.
- We don't use candidate data for advertising.
- These insights are for you and won't block you from applying.

Conversational job search (text + voice)
What's used
- Search text you type.
- Voice transcript, if you use voice search.
What's stored
- Search queries are session-only by default. We don't persist raw search text.
- We may collect aggregated counts (e.g., searches started, 0-results rate). These are non-identifying.
How search results are chosen
- AI-assisted parsing turns your text into filters (e.g., extracting "Manchester" as a location filter).
- We match keywords in job titles and tags.
- This may be wrong — always check job details.
- Results are ordered by posting date unless you change sorting.
Voice search
- Voice input uses your browser's speech recognition. Audio may be processed by your device or browser provider.
- Happydance doesn't store your audio.
- The transcript stays on this page unless you choose to submit it elsewhere.
Your control
- Clear search text using the (×) button.
- Clear search using the menu in the search sheet.
- Don't include personal information.
What it doesn't do
- Search doesn't make hiring decisions or block applications.
- It's a navigation and discovery tool for you.

ConvoNav (AI chat on careers content)
What's used
- What you type in the chat.
- Voice transcript, if you use voice input.
What's searched
- Jobs and content on this careers website.
What's stored
- Chat history is stored in your browser session only.
- We may collect aggregated interaction counts (non-identifying).
Your control
- Clear conversation using the menu.
- Don't include personal information in the chat.
What it doesn't do
- No hiring decisions, no blocking applications.
- AI-assisted suggestions may be wrong — always check job details.

Storage, retention & control
Retention
- Submitted applications (including your CV) are handled by the employer's ATS and retained under the employer's retention policy.

AI vendors & processing
Some processing is done by third-party providers via our infrastructure. We use:
- OpenAI – for generating match insights and suggestions
- Cloudflare – for infrastructure and performance
- BigQuery – for aggregated analytics only
How we minimise data
- We minimise what data is sent for processing
- Data is not used for advertising
- Data is not used to train advertising models
- Retention is for a limited period as required for the service
Analytics data
We use BigQuery to store aggregated product metrics only: counts of CV uploads, completion rates, band distributions. We do not store raw CV text, application answers, or personal data in analytics. Analytics is non-identifying.
